It’s that time of year again—the kickoff to the senior session season! You'd think by now, with countless sessions under my belt, the nerves would have settled. But nope, they’re still fluttering around like caffeinated butterflies. Every. Single. Time. The funny thing is, as soon as I meet my clients, those nerves vanish, replaced by pure excitement. It's game on!

Now, let’s talk about senior boys for a second. They've got the attention span of a gnat. Seriously. They'd rather be anywhere else than standing in front of a camera, gussied up and being told how to pose. "Stand here, no here. Hands in your pockets. Tilt your head up. No, down. Give me a big, fake laugh!" That last one always bombs. Boys have this armor of cool that’s hard to crack. They don't want to look goofy or anything less than themselves.

Enter Andrew. A total gem. I'm not saying he was radically different from the usual boys I photograph, but he had this air of easygoing patience. You could tell he'd rather be doing something else, but he was a trooper about it. He took direction like a champ, even the crazy ones. When I asked him to stand in the middle of the road, he hesitated but then went for it. And honestly, those shots turned out to be my favorite.

As the session went on, Andrew relaxed, getting more comfortable with my awkward, backward-walking self. By the end, we had this rhythm going, and he looked genuinely at ease in front of the camera. Sessions like this remind me why I love what I do. It's a strange feeling, almost like I'm getting a second shot at high school, and let’s just say, I’m having way more fun this time around.

Congrats, Andrew! You nailed it. Thanks for making my first senior session of the season unforgettable.
