There’s something about this current generation of kids that has me feeling a mix of emotions. I’ve watched these kids grow up right before my eyes, and I have to admit, it’s a bittersweet experience. I can’t help but marvel at how impressively mature they’ve become while also being acutely aware of the passage of time. It’s a strange cocktail of pride and nostalgia—one that might just require an Aperol Spritz to fully appreciate.

Maybe it’s best if I enjoy the beauty of how awesome these kids are. Yeah, that’s what I’ll do. Embrace the now, they say. And when I think of embracing the now, I think of Tayla.

The last time I saw Tayla, she was a tween. Ah, tweendom—that wonderfully awkward phase where braces, bad haircuts, and questionable fashion choices reign supreme. It’s that time in all our lives when we’re trying to figure out who we are, often with hilarious results. Fast forward to today, and Tayla is lively, hilariously witty, and stunning. Seriously, when did that happen?

So here’s to the new generation—funny, smart, and effortlessly cool. And here’s to Tayla, who made me realize that while time may be fleeting, the memories and connections we build are timeless.
